Abstract middle fork of the Snoqualmie River

abstract painting of my camping location on the middle fork of the snoqualmie river.

I returned from my camping trip exhausted, dehydrated and ready to create something after sitting on a bike for two straight days. I again decided to draw inspiration from the trip and drew an abstract painting of the scene. We camped on the beach of the river with a great view of the mountain. This is also expressed here. I did not feel like my simple painting had much going for it, so I decided to add color and expand on the idea of a camping trip.

Even when there is a well-documented (through pictures) account of what I saw and what was there, the trip and journey are more or less a blur. Surely I can make this trip sound like the best trip ever, or I can call it as it is: a bike ride with a break for a sleep. There was nothing special about the journey, yet it was unique and wonderful in its own way, filled with color and excitement.

Perhaps that is all bull shit that I just made up to describe my unease with the initial drawing, so I decided to attempt some inner pollack and experimenting more with paint. That is up to you to decide.
