Infinite Parallel Universes

I have no strong feelings about what may be the origins of our universe or the possible afterlives, but instead I like to seek out the concepts that bring me the most comfort. One of the most comforting possibilities is the concept of infinite parallel universes. It does fully eliminate the concept of free will, but somehow knowing that any bad decision is playing out in its opposite (an infinite number of times) brings me peace.

Naturally, anytime I make a decision, I am left with some anxiety about how much happier I could be had I done things differently - "What if I had changed my bike tires all of those weekends where I played video games? Would I still be walking two kilometers to a shop on Friday night in the rain to get new tubes?" - Knowing that an infinite numbers of me have decided to make the opposite decisions (or even worse decisions) really mutes the frustrations of poor choices. There is a version who promptly changed the tires and then ended up stranded on the next bike tour even farther from a stop because he changed the tires a few hundred kilometers earlier.

The long lasting effects of any decision are nearly impossible to determine even with full hindsight. The world is constantly changing, and seemingly mid-term poor decisions can be good (and vice versa) in the long term. No matter what paths we choose, there may be an infinite variations playing out across infinite universes, so it is not so important. How comforting.
