Mold-making (cheating)

I used the master I created yesterday to make some molds. These will be used to make posts; however, the process of making them is wholly unexciting. You mix some polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) in a ratio of 10:1 base:crosslinker, let is sit in a vacuum for a while to degas, then pour it above the mold, heat at 110 Celsius for about 10 minutes, then peel. It is a process I have done a remarkable number of times, and it is never exciting. This has to be repeated until the PDMS is gone, lest you waste anything, and then more is still required to get shit finished.

Ultimately, this is actually an incredible process that lets us learn about all sorts of cool stuff. I made an outrageous number of molds for the paper I helped write, so this wasn't really a day to learn something new by making things, but it was still fun, and I still made things.
