Squares - version1

One of my favorite artists is Piet Mondrian. I love the simplicity of turning lines and primary colors into art. Abstract art is so wonderful as it explores different ideas and thoughts about the world. I own at least two pairs of Mondrian-inspired socks, and the logo for my old neighborhood of Midtown, Houston invoked the idea of Mondrian's lines and squares (in my opinion).
logo for Midtown, Houston I am generally pretty bad at sketching or painting anything with depth or life to it. I tend to enjoy paintings of geometrical shapes, and today I decided to give it a try. Painting good horizontal lines is trickier than I thought it would be, but I also like having at least some level of belief that a human drew the object rather than a machine. I am mostly pleased with the final result, and will be setting it up in my room. I think it kind of looks like colored windows in a building that is extending off the canvas.
